Holly 30vs30

Featured Goal Digger | Holly Lindsey @30vs30

Here’s an honest introduction for you… I sent through these questions to Holly last year and have only just sorted my shit out to get her up on the blog, because, one word, LIFE! Yeah we all know how the ending of 2016 went for me ?Anyway, Holly and I have rekindled our inter-mance (new word I made up, I’m good at making up new words, it’s like a relationship through the internet, duh) recently bonding over similar views and values on meaningful topics such as body image, women supporting women and authenticity (Keep your eyes peeled for a collab blog post highlighting one of these topics very soon #worlddomination). Although I haven’t quite reached the THREE ZERO yet, Holly’s blog 30vs30 gets me pretty pumped up about it! I love seeing how women in their thirties are living and knowing that the number of our age reflects absolutely nothing. I should know this though as I still get asked for ID at R16 movies (big LOL)! I am really excited about sharing this feature with you all. Holly is authentic, determined and is bursting with valuable advice. Dig in! No disappointment with this one!

Tell us a little bit about yourself…

  1. I love listening to jazz, it reminds me of being lost on the streets of New York and keeps me dreaming big.
  2. I have an obsession with exposed brick, high stud spaces.
  3. My wardrobe is categorised by colour at all times.
  4. I have a Persian cat called Olive who is the love of my life and I live on a farm in the middle of Ponsonby with my Hukanui squad and a mini horse called Jafa.
  5. I value quality over quantity, especially when it comes to shoes, dining experiences and those I surround myself with.

I work in media, specialising in content partnerships and influencer marketing which I absolutely love. I am so lucky to be able to develop my skills in this industry, both professionally and personally. The world of content and digital marketing both, intrigues me and I am driven by the challenges we face in this industry every day.

What inspired you to create 30 vs 30 and what is your vision for this…

The inspiration behind the blog was to explore the differences in lifestyles lived by women in their thirties. I am inspired daily by friends all over the world who are creating a lifestyle unique to their own passions and goals and not always what society encourages. I wanted to create a platform that could celebrate these women and share their stories in an inspirational way.

30vs30 is also a creative outlet for me. It’s not only a place where I can share stories, but is a place where I can collaborate with other bloggers, brands and individuals who inspire me.

I am the bomb diggity because I have recently…

I have found that my motivation can come from the smallest of achievements. Any new collaboration, partnership or opportunity can mean the world to me. To know that something I have created is of value to someone else, gives me an amazing sense of achievement.

My biggest accomplishment is coming up in Spring and I can’t wait to share it with everyone!

I was held back from achieving my goals when…

A lack of confidence held me back for many years, both professionally and socially. Worrying what other people would think if I took risks or set myself a goal that may have appeared ‘unrealistic’. Then I landed a role within an industry I absolutely love. I proactively look for opportunities to up skill wherever possible and thrive on new challenges. I enjoy building on my experience in this space and the more I learn, the more confident I become.

With the job came all the social events and not all invites included a plus one! This meant I often stood alone, awkwardly at the front door not knowing anyone. It didn’t take long before I took a few steps forward and found myself easily making friends and new work contacts. My social confidence quickly grew. I choose to surround myself with people who lift me up and build my confidence.

I also love a good heel … instant confidence!

I’m a risk taker because…

I’ve pushed myself to be! If I didn’t take risks I would be living a life with little surprise, excitement or sense of achievement. Risks can end in a fail, but the fails make you stronger. I’m so grateful for the life I live but I am constantly on the hunt to create new experiences and milestones and am willing to take the risks required to achieve them.

“How many cares one loses when one decides not to be something, but to be someone” – Coco Channel

This quote is a true reflection of my first two years in my thirties. I’ve focused on being true to myself, to build my own dreams and aspirations and live my life as a true representation of who I am, no one else.

Get listening to…

While you’re here, lets set some magic and mindful intentions! I will…

Do More… squats!

See More… of what is around me. Explore the beauty of New Zealand.

Be More… patient.

I invest in my body, mind and soul by…

Taking long walks along the beach when at our beach house. Breathing in the salt air stimulates the immune system not to mention free of harmful vapours and exhaust fumes! I invest in my mind through travel – to learn from and appreciate other cultures, lifestyles and people. The more interesting the people are around you, the more interesting you become.  I invest in my soul by spending time on my own without social media. When I get home from work I lie down on my bed with my cat and take 30mins out to just be.

My top 3 tips for living a kick-ass fulfilling life…

  1. Be happy and content on your own. Others should add to that happiness.
  2. Say yes more.
  3. Step outside your comfort zone, go to an event on your own and approach people you haven’t met before, it’s so fulfilling.
