Meet Juls, the other half of Julia & Libby!! Having just ticked off becoming a published author after releasing a book full of inspiration and recipes for a healthier way of eating, with her sister Libby, Julia is chasing a number of other ambitious goals!! Grateful and excited to be able to share what Juls has up her sleeve, where she finds inspiration and her realistic tips on how to live a healthy, fulfilling life.

Tell us a little bit about yourself…

I am currently living in Sydney by the beach with my partner and 2 dogs, studying full time towards a Bachelor of Health Science plus working on my website Julia and Libby with my sister.  I have been in Sydney for just over 3 years now and absolutely love it.   I am a homebody (Cancerian) and love nothing more than sitting on the couch in comfy clothing, slippers on, make up off, hair in a pony tail, eating yummy food and snuggling with my little family.

Published a recipe book!

I was held back from achieving my goals when …

I didn’t plan well enough.  I have learnt that lists are my best friend and having all my tasks down on paper in front of me helps me to achieve my goals.  The satisfaction from ticking something off my “to do” list is awesome and helps keep me motivated.

I’m a risk taker because …

I am not a risk taker haha. I always make sure I know what I am doing before I do it.

The best part of working with Libby …

We can be 100% honest with each other and we have similar taste which makes things easier.  I am lucky I get to say I work with my sister, it is pretty cool.

5 top tips to promote positive health and wellness …

  1. Going to bed before 10pm – people underestimate just how important sleep is.
  2. Drinking LOTS of water throughout the day and eating nourishing food 80% of the time.  
  3. Taking time to be outside for at least 10 minutes a day and switching off from the outside world.   Nothing feels better than putting your bare feet on the grass and feeling the earth.  
  4. Talk talk talk… if you are feeling sad about something go and talk to someone about it. Don’t bottle your feelings up.  
  5. Find a job that you love and you will wake up everyday with a smile on your face.

I don’t watch much TV so I don’t follow any series. I did catch a few episodes of Empire and loved it. Reality TV is always entertaining and any documentaries that have animals in them.

going for a walk to the beach with my dogs. It is something I have to do everyday. You know how people need coffee to function before they start their day? I need to sit by the beach.

Graduated, I would love to have had children and be successful in what I am doing.

My top 3 tips for living a kick-ass fulfilling life …

  1. Do what makes you happy.
  2. Eat what you want, when you want. Don’t restrict yourself of the things you love or you will create a bad relationship with food.  
  3. Surround yourself with people who lift you up. 

A typical day in the life of Juls Matthews …

I generally get up at 6.30am.  Take my dogs for an hour walk.  Get home, make a big breakfast, have a shower and clean the house, go and run errands or to an exercise/yoga class.  Run through my emails, this can sometimes take a few hours.  If my partner gets home from training early we will go out for lunch.  In the afternoon I will work again or if I have Uni I will be studying/working on assignments.  If it’s not too hot I will go for another walk. Prepare dinner and go to bed by 10pm.
