Gina Reed | Featured Goal Digger GDNZ EDITION

Introducing our first Featured Goal Digger for 2017 the energetic and passionate Gina! I thought there is no better way to start this year off than with one of my own amazing coaching clients who inspires me every time we speak and I’m sure she is guaranteed to inspire you too! I’ve been working alongside Gina since July last year and have witnessed a beautiful transformation from a why me mentality to a why the f not me mentality. She is a risk taker, a game changer and one of the most genuine and down to earth women ever! ManaakiFit is her business baby which you will read about soon and I’m hoping to get up to Auckland in the next couple of months so I can get on board!! Dig in Goal Diggers!!

Tell us a little bit about yourself…

Kiaora! I’m passionate about people and connecting with people to have a good time and enjoy life. I am on a mission to do this through ManaakiFIt, an organisation with the purpose of helping women to feel great, supported and empowered through exercise, fun and learning new skills like snowboarding, surfing and skateboarding.

I came to this realisation and vision from being in an unhappy place in life in my first career path and after being in that place for a while I decided to go after the experiences and things I enjoy most in life and make that my career. I chose to keep growing and learning as a person and I hope to help others do the same.

I am kicking ass because I have recently…

Nearly finished my personal training certificate and have been working in a women’s gym helping people feel good and absolutely loving it!

I was inspired to start up ManaakiFit because…

I wasn’t happy with where I was in my career and lifestyle as I was writing reports in an office. I wanted to create a life of fun and good vibes so that lead me to reflect on my life so far and think about where I had experienced a lot of good times and fun. Being a snowboard instructor (being outdoors), going to the gym and having fun with people were top on my list so that is how the idea for ManaakiFit was inspired and my ideas and vision have just grown from there. I launched ManaakiFit in September 2016 and I am loving the journey it is taking me on.

My vision for ManaakiFit is…

For it to be a positive and empowering community for women to be involved with and inspire women in Aotearoa to be badass chicks having fun and enjoying life together through fitness and board sports.

Currently Digging for…

Here is my motivational Dream Big Goal I created in my first session with Bridget at the beginning of the 12 Week Goal Digger Coaching Programme. It puts the biggest smile on my face every time I read it and I know that this is 100% where I am headed.

It is the 1st of January 2018 and ManaakiFit has at least 10 branches throughout New Zealand where they are run by one head trainer/coach who runs personal training sessions, group fitness sessions that are based outside and board sport activities. Each ManaakiFit branch has a similar sense of community that promotes environmental awareness, that empowers the members to be their best selves, to have fun and to get fit. ManaakiFit has a positive and growing online community as well. I am confident, feel sexy and am comfortable in my own physical body and am consciously thinking positively about myself and those around me. I am growing in confidence as I am pushing myself to regularly compete in crossfit, snowboarding and surfing events. I am experiencing financial freedom as my income is solely coming in from ManaakiFit which is a huge success. My relationships are thriving as I am constantly prioritising my loved ones, practicing patience and understanding as well as including them in each aspect of ManaakiFit to make sure they are feeling included.

I was held back from achieving my goals when

A big one for me was not thinking I am good enough to start anything. I was super scared to try as I didn’t want to fail and feel bad about myself. But that has definitely changed for me now. My new way of thinking is what is the worst that could happen and I constantly remind myself that failure is part of growth so we need to constantly keep trying things. I try to surround myself with people who believe in me and I listen to people who feel the same about giving things a go to continue to feel inspired and empowered.

Celebrating and reflecting is a key part of our Goal Digging journey, when, what and how did you celebrate your latest achievement…

We celebrated the first ManaakiFit skate programs being a success by having a praise giving with the crew.

What inspired you to sign up with GDNZ and start chasing you dreams…

I was over feeling absolutely stuck in my life not really knowing what I wanted to do, so I attended a personal development course which really helped me to see how my current thinking was stopping me from action. I knew that I needed a fresh perspective and some kind of coaching as I was not getting it on my own and that was when I came across Bridget and Goal Diggers NZ. She is a true inspiration to me, an absolute good vibes chick. She has helped me to organise my vision and given me the support I have needed to push through when I get scared or have been unsure of things. With her help I have been able to get clear on the actions I have to take to keep chasing my dreams.

The best part about setting goals around my passion and living life my way is…

You attract like minded people who are awesome and like to do similar things to you! Life is more fun and you get to do more of what you love everyday!

I’m a risk taker because...

I quit my job after 10 months of starting, which I studied three years to be qualified for. I left in search of something more, to learn more about myself and live a life around what I actually love to do.

Top 3 bucket list goals ticked off…

  • Live and work in Japan for a Snow Season
  • Travel on my own to Asia
  • Start a Business doing something I love

Top 3 bucket list goals to tick off…

  • Live in Queenstown or Wanaka
  • Travel to Canada for a winter season then travel down through North and South America at the end of 2017
  • Run a successful business that empowers women all around Aotearoa to be more than they think they can be through fitness, fun, board sports and a good vibes community.

Everything is possible.

There are no rules.

These quotes have helped me recently to believe in myself and keep trying new things and learning from my experiences.

Get listening to…

I listen to the Tropical Beats Playlist on Spotify that is my fav at the moment.

When self-doubt and CBF creeps I listen to…

The school of greatness podcast because it inspires and motivates me to move forward and not doubt myself. I love to listen and learn from successful people and how they have done the same and it also helps me to focus on the amazing things people are doing in the world. Also when I get overwhelmed I try to focus on the things I can control and bring to mind all the things I am grateful for, it works a treat!

While you’re here, lets set some magic and mindful intentions! I will…

Do More… Giving

See More… Skate parks and beaches

Be More… Brave

I invest in my holistic health, my mind, body and soul by…

Investing in personal development courses, having the best goals and personal growth coach, challenging my body and spending time with family and friends.

My top three tips for living a kick-ass fulfilling life are…

  1. Learn about yourself and what you love to do! Unapologetically be that person, you are the bomb!
  2. Got for what you want – what’s the worst that could happen? Just enjoy the ride!
  3. Show and give love to everyone and always see the best in people.
