Nicky Felton | Featured Goal Digger GDNZ Edition

GDNZ Edition numero cinco is Nicky Felton. Nicky came to me seeking something more out of life, with infinite ideas of changes she wanted to make just needing that little extra push and support.  After three coaching sessions Nicky’s self-belief, confidence and drive quadrupled and she had started her own business within a couple of months. Nicky’s passion for life, adventure and motivating others is infectious as well as her smile and energy. This girl has certainly already started making her place in the world and I am looking forward to following her journey. Here is Nicky!

Tell us a little bit about yourself…

I’m 23 years old, based in Cambridge New Zealand. I’m fuelled by passion and purpose – everything I do centres around these principles. I’m pretty much obsessed with living life to the full and combining ‘work’ and ‘play’.  What I lack in height, I make up for in personality! I’m a life enthusiast, an entrepreneur in the making, and I like to think I’m an aspiring minimalist.

What you need to know about my business, Go Getters…

I’m big on living with passion and purpose, and about building a life that works for you, so Go-Getters is my own business centred around these values. Under Go-Getters I run career based mentoring, a creative agency, and athlete management services.

My goal is to empower and enable people to live out their dreams, and through Go-Getters I basically get to inspire them to do so and then jump on their team in order to help them get there!

What inspired you to sign up with Goal Diggers NZ and start chasing your dreams …

I felt like I needed a team member who was a few steps ahead of me, who could guide me through the ‘scary’ parts of starting my own business. On researching Bridget I found she was a young, vibrant woman who was able to really connect to my calling and dreams. In the past I’ve found life coaches to be (and I don’t want to be mean here but this is the reality) older and more backwards thinking. I’ve found that they weren’t able to understand my go-getter nature and didn’t share the same outlook on life that I have so I found it very hard to connect with them. Bridget is super. She is going for big goals herself and totally relatable.

The best part about setting goals around my passion and living life my way is…

When you set goals around your passion you’re automatically aligned with them and they’re super easy to achieve!! When you’re combining work with your passion it’s not even like you’re working at all, and you’re getting great results!

I am the bomb diggity because I have recently…

Quit my full time job, to make my side hustle my full time hustle!

I was held back from achieving my goals when…

I listened to my inner critic which I like to call ‘Negative Nicky’. She’s one of those really horrible, pessimistic friends you just don’t want to hang out with but who always seems to pop up at the least convenient times.

Increasing my self awareness allowed me to notice when Negative Nicky was hanging around, which then meant I could have a straight up conversation with her and tell her what’s up. She still hangs around but I’ve learned when to take her seriously and when to not put up with her shit.

I’m a risk taker because…

I like doing things differently – Instead of fitting into the mould, I like to break out of it.

Currently Digging for…

Building Go-Getters into a global company based around inspiring and helping people live to their full potential.

IMG_0889The best part about owning and running my own business is…

I love the fact that I’m in control of my own future – the more I put in the more I get out. PLUS I get to work when and where I want to!

I finished up in my full time role earlier this month and since then I’ve been travelling the country in a camper van, and I’ve still been able to keep working the whole time which is amazing!

I invest in myself by…

I’m normally quite a stinge so one of my new years resolutions this year was to invest in myself more – I got Bridget on board as a coach, and I’ve also allowed myself to purchase a bunch of new literature, both books and magazines which inspire me!

I invest in myself by dedicating time to my own personal development and wellbeing as well. I feed off inspiration so I’m always seeking out the ‘inspired state’ as such – this is normally when I’m shaking up my routine so I like to spend time frequenting cafes, dreaming up big ideas, and drinking coffee!

My top 3 tips for living a kick-ass fulfilling life…

  1.  Go-Get!! Work out what lights you up, what gets you going, and then build your life around that – not the other way around. Combining your passions and work into one is not impossible, in fact in this ‘purpose driven’ generation, it’s being encouraged more and more. Work out what you want to be and do, and then go get it!
  2. Be passionate – once you’ve worked out what you stand for, be open about that shit! You’ll soon find the people who share your passion, who encourage you to chase your dreams, and that’s the most satisfying thing ever.
  3. Do shit differently – you get to choose who you are and what you do, why would you choose to be the same as everyone else!? Be you, find out what makes you different, and use that to your advantage!

My typical day from AM to PM…

At the moment I have no typical day because I quit my job, finished up last week, and since then I’ve been living out of a camper van!! I really enjoy shaking up routines so whilst I have positive habits like going to the gym, I like to keep the rest of my day pretty open and unstructured. This way I can take opportunities as they pop up!
