I’VE FOUND THAT LUCK IS QUITE PREDICTABLE. IF YOU WANT MORE LUCK, TAKE MORE CHANCES. BE MORE ACTIVE. SHOW UP MORE OFTEN. – BRIAN TRACY
Brian Tracy is on to something. We believe there’s no such thing as “luck” or “lucky.” Luck doesn’t exist. That sentence might have you clapping your hands to your cheeks in shock – you might have thought our mindset work was somehow related to bringing in luck. It’s the opposite. Your mindset helps you MAKE your luck. Let us explain how…
The definition of luck is:
‘Success or failure apparently brought by chance rather than through one’s own actions.’
This definition alone makes luck feel almost like a bad thing, like it’s belittling all the work you’ve put into something. For example, say you’ve chosen to create your dream life of working for yourself so you can have more time with your kids. You sacrifice weekends, sleep, social events to get your business off the ground. You go without many of the things you’d usually buy – no avocados or coffee dates in your household! You do all this so you can set your own hours and spend time with your children. You’re proud of what you’ve achieved and bloody love getting to be there for them rather than working to someone else’s hours. And then one day, talking with another parent about how cool it was to go on school camp with your youngest, the parent says “oh you’re so LUCKY you can do that.”
No, no, no that was not luck. That was you working your butt off to create a lifestyle that let you do that. The reason we don’t believe in luck is because it implies your actions, your hard work, your choices have nothing to do with the outcome. And as a Goal Digger, you know that can’t be right!
What we do believe in is making your own “luck”.
How do you do this? You decide what you want your life to look and feel like and then you go after it.
You make your luck through the choices you make every day, each tiny course correction, the belief that you can do it and a whole lot of work.
It’s having pride in what you’ve achieved and acknowledging that YOU made it happen.
You’re not “lucky” you are a Goal Digger.
